Steve Terhune was
involved in the early days
of the Assisted-Living
boom. It was a natural
transition from his health
care and apartment
design experiences.
The first project was
Morningside House, in
Laurel, MD, where Steve
conceived the project,
performed the political
due-diligence with
neighborhood and
community leaders, and
made the case with the
City Planning Board for a
special exception to the
zoning. This allowed the
construction of a 110-
bed ALF where the site
had previously been
zoned for 14
single-family lots!
The project was
profitable for his client
and the community.
